HEARTLIGHT 0.2.0


Wow, another quick month and I’m happy to present version 0.2.0 of Heartlight!

This build again focuses on further fleshing out the full set of mechanics in a meaningful way.

New Features:

  • continuation of the main quest
  • a new level consisting of 8 rooms
  • a (very placeholder) town consisting of 5 rooms
  • a new weapon type
  • introduction of 2 new npc
  • an ally that follows you into battle  (albeit poorly)
  • 2 new enemy types
  • doors now show bounds of entry and exit
  • change in post processing to appear closer to final art style
  • added damage types so enemies can have resistances
  • weapons now have varying power based on weapon type.

Bug Fixes:

  • level load time reduced to less than 1 seconds (down from up to 20 seconds!)
  • levels now load in chunks allowing for more stable performance
  • updated Blockout Tileset to avoid empty spots at various level of detail levels.
  • fixed bug where sometimes portraits don’t show up.
  • fixed bug where sometimes health doesn’t reflect changes correctly
  • fixed bug where console panel doesn’t properly open
  • fixed bug where sometimes you could load into a scene twice

Known Bugs:

  • occasional bright sparkle on sky and water
  • sometimes chests appear opened when they still have contents.
  • enemies will sometimes pathfind incorrectly or become unresponsive.
